Employers LIABILITY Insurance
For Photographers’ and Videographers
Employers Liability Insurance
WHAT IS EMPLOYERS LIABILITY?
Employers Liability covers you should you be sued for injury or sickness to your employees caused by your negligence in the course of your business.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT YOU HAVE EMPLOYERS LIABILITY?
Other than Motor Insurance, Employers Liability is the only insurance Photographers and Videographers are required to have by Law. You must have an Employers Liability Policy to protect anyone you legally employ. If an employee was injured on set and you didn’t have Employers Liability you could face prosecution by the Health & Safety Executive.
Many photographers mistakenly assume that as they do not have any permanent staff or PAYE that they do not employ anyone. However, an employee is considered to be anyone under your “care, custody & control”. An employee can include such people as labour only Sub Contractors, Assistants, Models, Friends/Family, Volunteers and Work Experience people.
WHAT DO I NEED TO REMEMBER ABOUT EMPLOYERS LIABILITY COVER?
• Employers Liability will cover U.K. Nationals you employ whilst shooting anywhere in the World.
• A U.K. Employers Liability Policy will not cover a Foreign National you employ in their own Country. For example, if you employ a German National in Germany, you will require a German Employers Liability Cover.
